Pulse shape discrimination for GRIT: Beam test of a new integrated charge and current preamplifier coupled with high granularity Silicon detectors

چکیده
The GRIT (Granularity, Resolution, Identification, Transparency) Silicon array is intended to measure direct reactions. Its design based on several layers (three in the forward direction, two backward) of custom-made trapezoidal and square detectors. first stage 500 μm thick features 128 × orthogonal strips. Pulse shape analysis for particle identification implemented this layer. Given compacity large number channels involved (>7500), an integrated preamplifier, iPACI, that gives charge current information has been developed AMS 0.35 BiCMOS technology. specifications results test bench are presented. Considering energy range 50 MeV resolution (FWHM) 12 keV one strip obtained from alpha source measurement real conditions 35 keV. output bandwidth measured at 130 MHz small signals power consumption reaches 40 mW per detector channel. A beam was performed coupling a nTD double-sided stripped with iPACI preamplifier 64-channel digitizer. Z = 1 particles discriminated pulse technique down 2 protons, 2.5 deuterons 3 tritons. effect length due investigated both N- P-side, showing no significant impact.

An EJ-299-34 plastic scintillator with silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) readout was used to measure the fast neutron output of a pulsed Thermo-Fisher A-325 Deuterium-Tritium sealed tube neutron generator (STNG). The SiPM signals were handled by a prototype digital pulse processing system, based on a free-running analogue to digital converter feeding a digital signal processor (DSP). Pulse shape d...
